How to be your best self.

How Hypnosis and hiking in nature help you to wake up to YOUR BEST SELF.

The true nature you were born with, that Best Self. Society, family, teachers, culture, religion and even our friends want to conform us to what makes them comfortable, and it worked.

It worked if you find yourself:
-questioning your opinions
-holding back when you want to speak up
-criticizing the way you did something
-seeking more out of life but never finding it

The conformed self is also known as the adapted self, and it is NOT your true self, think of it as your SHADOW self following you everywhere.

What does your shadow self tell you?

My shadow self is NOW trained to be my ally, not my adversary. Shadow aspects are usually the not so nice part of us. They are the part that shoots down our ideas and it is usually the critical voice. And, the suppressor of our emotions.

We ALL have parts of us operating at an unconscious level and when things are not going right for us it is because one part is trying to go one direction and the other is resisting for a good reason….our confidence got held back.

Not voicing our opinion or feeling state is one example. If we were not allowed to express normal emotions as a child then it will be hard to give yourself permission to do that as an adult. We can say to ourselves, “Just tell him honestly how you feel.” And that shadow voice says, “telling the truth hurts people and it is best to keep those opinions to yourself.” And that leaves you feeling not so good.

Now, let’s continue this conversation from Sedona, Arizona where temps are in the 110s with little shade. Huckaby, Templeton at Cathedral Rock, Teacup to Key Hole Cave and Devils Bridge trails where sunny, rocky, dusty and very red, it is the red rocks after all. But even in those hot and dry conditions it was a peaceful, magical and transformative place.

On this hike we are examining our darker self, the shadow aspect as it is know in psychology. When we were born we were courageous, creative, happy, healthy, perfect in every way then we go to kindergarten where the boxes are. We get put in boxes and we learn about duality and differences and because of the influence of teachers and parents we stop expressing naturally and become self conscious. As a result, as very young children we stopped being our true selves and started pleasing those around us.

How do we transform the shadow self into the bright self?

As with everything we want to change, it starts with awareness. From there we develop preferences: ‘we like that’ and ‘we don’t like that’. Focusing more on the feeling good stuff – that we like, you develop a habit of mind for the good and a resistance to the “not good.”

The result is you naturally and easily move in a more positive direction. Stepping into nature which is balanced and perfect resets your mind/body into your original perfection, so getting back to your best self is possible by just hiking in nature.

Make a pledge to yourself to go a local trail (use your phone to only take pictures) and really be with yourself…notice the voice, the shadow, the thoughts following you and then start to change the conversation. Remember, transformation can only occur when we are aware.
